Music Building – Austin Peay State

University

The University Music/Mass Communications Building in Clarksville, Tennessee, stands as an architectural gem, boasting an array of facilities including a concert theater, rehearsal spaces, practice rooms, studios, and classrooms.

The project faced significant challenges, particularly concerning the functionality and performance of its mechanical systems. A team of field test engineers initiated an investigation and conducted functional performance tests, uncovering numerous deficiencies that undermined the building’s acoustical performance. Notably, the Performance Hall operated at a NC level far beyond its design specifications, due to issues such as improper installation of acoustical duct liner and air duct leakage.

Through the dedication and expertise of ICE’s team, the University Music/Mass Communications Building surpassed expectations in terms of performance and functionality. ICE’s collaborative efforts ensured that the facility continues to serve its purpose as a hub for artistic and academic endeavors, despite the challenges it faced.
